About the Foundation

Jerry and Alberta Taylor

The J.A. Taylor Foundation, founded in 2020, is a non-profit organization established in memory of the late Jerry Taylor and surviving wife Alberta Taylor – local farmer, fabricator/machinist and philanthropist, committed to the education and development of youth in the community. Through their contributions to farming and trade programs, development of work-training opportunities, and youth sports programs, young adults had the opportunity to learn important skills that better prepared them for the future.

About the Foundation

It is the mission of the Foundation to further these core values - inspiring youth and creating opportunity for personal growth - by providing access to skilled trades, agricultural and athletic training and development resources with the purpose of helping youth and student-athletes achieve their goals.

The Foundation has built a training and education facility (Taylor Training Center aka “The Farm”) located in Solano County, California that offers youth the opportunity to develop their skills through hands-on learning and training.

The Farm also serves as a learning hub - providing access to information and resources for those pursuing a career in skilled trades and agri-business. Through support and partnership with local businesses the Foundation offers skilled trades seminars and workshops, and provides networking opportunities for internship and professional development opportunities.

The Farm is available to non-profit and community-based organizations such as 4-H groups, CPR training, hunter safety courses, and ESL classes, that share in the mission of providing youth educational and skill-building opportunities.

Foundation Projects

The Foundation is committed to giving back to the community through sponsored projects, free coaching clinics, professional networking and mentoring services. The most recent projects completed included re-surfacing the Dixon High School JV baseball field which had been deemed unsafe for play, and renovating the baseball field infield at Allan Witt Community Park in Fairfield.

The next project is renovating the Dixon High School JV softball field which has also been deemed unsafe for play.

The Foundation sponsors local sports teams, subsidizes training fees for middle school, high school and college players, assists with FFA and 4-H activities, and provides free facility use for community events. Through the support of the Dixon Unified School District, the Foundation has also sponsored local baseball and softball tournaments with proceeds going back to the local school athletic departments.
